About Dan

Dan lives on Snoqualmie Ridge with his wife, Holly Cowan, an advertising and marketing executive, their twin 9-year-old daughters, Gwinna and Layla, and their two Pomeranians, Ginny and Teddy.

In his day job, Dan is the founding partner of Common Good Strategies, a nationwide public affairs consultancy serving companies in the real estate, transportation, and urban innovation sectors. Prior to co-founding Common Good, Dan led policy and public affairs teams at mobility companies, developing creative solutions to drive policy changes, bring new products to market, and build partnerships with governments in all 50 states.

Dan cut his teeth in politics as a staff member in the U.S. House of Representatives for Congressman Patrick Kennedy of Rhode Island and in City Hall as a policy advisor to New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg, where he led complex negotiations, helped pass landmark legislation, and forged new coalitions at the highest levels of government.

In the private sector, Dan held partnerships and marketing roles at American Express and Amazon, where he led social impact partnerships with the ONE Campaign and developed marketing campaigns to promote financial literacy and equitable access to the banking system.

Locally, Dan serves on the Snoqualmie Planning Commission, has coached youth sports, and is a proud dance dad. When he’s not shuttling Gwinna and Layla to various activities across the valley, Dan enjoys hiking, weightlifting, and baseball.
